Take a look at what I have been up to:
It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here, and I wanted to give everyone an update on what has been going on with my life. This post will talk about my new puppy, school, my travels, home remodels, and my new store!
New Puppy:
I wasn’t really looking for another dog, but I guess that’s just how it happens? I found out about a litter of German Shepherd puppies, through my mother, who found out about them from a friend. So I decided to go and look at, the two female puppies that were still available. I guess At that point I guess I was already halfway committed! I already have a 5 year old male German shepherd, Gunner, and only wanted a female. It was all over once I held her in my arms. She immediately curled up with her head on my shoulder, and fell asleep.
Delta came home at 8 weeks of age at the end of August. She has kept me extremely busy over the last couple of months. It turns out that this girl is an eater . . . an eater of all things made of fabric. She loves socks (has swallowed two), blankets, and the corner of pillows! We spent Christmas day at the emergency vet, due to an obstruction in her intestines. She had swallowed the knotted portion of her rope toy, and due to the knot in the toy she couldn’t pass it. She stayed overnight with them on IV fluids and antibiotics.
The next morning, I took her to our vet as soon as they opened, and they immediately took her in for surgery. She had lost over 10lbs and was on a strict liquid diet for 14 days. She is now back up to her weight before the obstruction!!! Gunner is (mostly) loving having an active baby sister to play with, even though she does occasionally get on his nerves 🙂 Although, while she stayed with the vet post-surgery, he continually searched the house for her, and cried when he couldn’t find her. They are basically two peas in a pod.
School:
As for school . . . what a journey it has been so far. I started my final year of undergrad in the fall, and I’m almost halfway through my last semester! Graduation is now in sight . . . just over a month from now. This semester is a very busy semester, especially with my Research Proposal for my degree. Due to this, I won’t be doing much traveling until after graduation. Although I may try and sneak a weekend trip in somewhere. I have my eye on Nashville or Charleston. Do you have a recommendation of one over the other? Any recommendations on what to do in either place?
Travels:
Travels, travels, travels. Traveling is always on my mind, and I’ve been fortunate in my travels this past year. I have a lot of travel posts coming soon! Where have I been, you may ask? This past year, I have traveled to Scotland, South Africa, Jordan, Costa Rica, Seattle, Alaska and back to London! I can’t wait to share my experiences with you. Keep and eye out for them on the blog and Instagram (@worldbeneathmyfeet).
I absolutely loved every single place I’ve been to, however, Scotland definitely stole a piece of my heart. Jordan was such an amazing and unique experience. I loved learning about the Bedouin culture and 4×4 driving in Wadi Rum. A trip to Jordan isn’t complete without a trip to Petra. Petra is a once in a lifetime experience. As you can imagine, I’m behind on editing my pictures . . . I’ve been working on them lately, and I’m enjoying reliving the trips.
Remodeling:
I have been making changes around my house, that I can’t wait to share with you, dear readers. The biggest change was my bathroom remodel. It took me over a year to finally decide on the design that I wanted. And boy let me tell you, it’s a stunner! The remodel was finished right before Thanksgiving, and I’m still in love with it. When I look at the before pictures, I can’t believe it’s even the same bathroom! This was by far the biggest change that has been made to the house- the other changes have been minor while making a big impact.
While we are on the topic of remodeling. I’m hoping in the next couple of months to “remodel” the website. I think it’s time to change the layout of the website and give it a new look!
My New Store:
Over the last six to eight months, I have been focusing on improving my photography and learning graphic design. I NEEDED a creative outlet . . . it’s something I enjoy and it makes me happy! So I’ve been teaching myself about graphic design and different places to sell my creations. I’ve decided to focus on selling my creations through Etsy, right now and hopefully integrate a shop with the blog. The store went live on Etsy, November 15th, and I’ve reached 50 sales, so far.
The store is Amber Christi Design, where I sell T-shirts, coffee mugs, printable art, tote bags, printable invitations, sweatshirts, and pillows. Of course you’ll find travel-related items, with more being added everyday!! I would eventually like to start selling my photography on there also! I really enjoyed my time in Jordan. It was such a unique experience and seeing Petra was absolutely amazing!
I love how adventurous you’ve been! So many new places to check off the map. I’ve been to London and Seattle, but all those other places are definitely on my bucket list. Especially Alaska and South Africa!
